One of our most cherished community honours is the Ron Klemm Award, named in memory of a beloved CHS Group employee who passed away in 2018.
Ron joined CHS in 2007, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a warm personality that made him a true “people person.” His dedication to his work and his passion for helping others were legendary. Ron was also a huge contributor to local sports, volunteering countless hours to the Quantong Cricket Club.
Each year, CHS Group honours Ron’s legacy by presenting the Ron Klemm Award to an employee who exemplifies Ron’s values: dedication, work ethic, and customer service. This award celebrates those who go above and beyond, just as Ron did.
Cec Hopper the founder of Cec Hopper and Sons, began the business in 1962.
The legend has it, that he rode a bike to work to start out, then migrated to a Valent Station Wagon. Cec was an excellent tradesman, steel conduit and neat wiring looms, always cleaned up and prided himself on customer satisfaction.
Today we are known as CHS Group of Companies, an abbreviation of Cec Hopper and Sons – and the group now extends beyond the Hopper family.
This award celebrates hard work and long service.
To honour Cec’s incredible journey and history, we have established the
Cec Hopper Award in his name. Each year, based on selection criteria,
the team at CHS nominate a staff member whose work philosophy is in
line with Cec’s value’s and work effort.
Every year, our key staff donate over 5,000 hours of their time to community service.
In addition to volunteer work, CHS Group contributes over $60,000 annually to support local causes. We believe in the power of sports, recreation, and community engagement to bring people together and improve lives.
